I painted this gouache illustration as homage to the inspirational Michael Trudgeon, who was one of my Interior Design lecturers at RMIT.

From ferreting us down the rabbit hole of the Tech Noir movement and introducing us to films like Ridley Scott’s Bladerunner and William Gibson’s cyberpunk bible, Neuromancer, it felt like Michael had awoken us to a thinly veiled cache of deeper truths.

Additionally, as someone who was constantly drawn to the broadest swathe of creative pursuits, it was incredibly vindicating to see how Michael successfully shape-shifted from one discipline to another. If he could do it, then so could I!

The front cover illustration was part of an illustrated interview that I did with Michael exploring his creative philosophy and practise.

The illustration was very influenced by the cartoons of Spike Milligan.
